Fragment of a graphite rod, possibly for electrical purposes, 2.5 cm long
This object was found in an archaeological exploration of the Telecom site at 21A George Street Parramatta. The site contained a convict hut and later, other residential buildings. Objects found on the site include early Colonial pottery and British export ware, ink bottles, kaolin pipes, marbles, fob watch parts, cartridge cases and some Chinese ware and Victorian coins. The area is included in all images of the early views of Parramatta looking toward Old Government House and eastwards from Old Government House. James Elder was associated with the site.
