Brief description
The suitcase belonged to Santino Granturco who was born in the town of Casoli, Province of Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy, on March 30th, 1923. He was one of 4 brothers and also had 2 sisters. In 1940 the family moved to a larger home in Lama dei Peligni, a town close by to Casoli.

Santino was a prisoner of war and was moved to many camps in Germany when he was captured. After the war there was no work and little food, so Santino decided to follow his 3 brothers' footsteps to Australia.
He worked for Transfield from when he arrived in Australia until his retirement.

This was the suit case that he brought with him when he arrived in Australia on the 2nd November 1956.
