Brief description
This Series comprises Minutes to the Meetings of the Parramatta Council Finance Committee. The first Finance Committee was formed in March 1862 to consider the issue of rates to be demanded for the use of the public wharf. Over time, the responsibilities of the Committee widened to include the examination of vouchers for payment of wages; collection of revenue from rates; dues; licenses; rents such as the Markets and baths; and the management of all matters affecting the finance of the Council. In 1948 following the amalgamation of Dundas, Ermington & Rydalmere, and Granville Municipal Councils with Parramatta City Council, a new Finance Committee was elected with representatives from each of the Wards. The minutes for the period between 1910 and June 1914, and 1949 to 1968 are missing. These records are original and have not been digitised.
