Brief description

This Series comprises records relating to the financial dealings of the Parramatta City Council Mayoral Patriotic Committee, which was established during World War II to raise funds for the war effort, managing the Soldiers Hut Management Committee and the Women's Voluntary Service. The major holdings are receipts and accounts from local businesses which provided goods for the Soldiers Hut (a café and recreation room in Church Street); receipts for goods sent to soldiers overseas; notes and working papers detailing money raised, how it was raised and how it was spent; and letters from other war fund organisations. This material is original, and has not been digitised.
