Murray Brothers was the oldest and most highly respected departmental store in Parramatta's history. It was established by brothers Edward Nicol and William Richard who started out with separate small business in 1876, which they expanded over time and eventually combined their businesses. By 1889 they built a new multistorey premesis which dominate Church Street, Parramatta. Murray Brothers traded for 102 years and closed its doors in 1978.
