Biography
Built in 1936, Granville Swimming Pool was only the fourth Olympic pool to open in the state (after North Sydney, Enfield and Bankstown). It was built on a duck pond by the local woollen mills in that period when governments were trying to get unemployed men back to work. The 1950s were its heyday. In 1973 the pool was heated. In 1988 it was named after John Devitt.
