Biography
The Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) was established in 1928 in Sydney. Its aim is to bring writers together and promote their interests. It covers such areas as government policy, literary awards, professional advice, representation of writers' rights and the promotion of literature. The Parramatta Branch of FAW was established in December 1972. The first President of the group was Mrs. E. Date. One of its first major acheivements was the publication of an anthology of works by Parramatta poets and writers called Jamaga. The group also held workshops, organised competitions and other events promoting literature and poetry.
