Brief description
Register of incoming correspondence is organised chronologically. Each entry has the name of the correspondent, subject of the letter and either the pre-existing file it is attached to or a new file number. Individual letter numbering did not commence until 6 August 1947 with the number1492. Files from 1945-1948 were later reorganised and placed into broad subject file groupings and a new index and file numbering created
